Soham Kamotra becomes J&K’s first Intl Master

JAMMU, Aug 25: Soham Kamotra becomes 1st player from Jammu and Kashmir to get International Master Norm.
He got this Norm after splendid show in Abu Dhabi Masters Chess Championship held at Abu Dhabi. He defeated 2 Grandmasters and one other besides drew with 4 International Masters to qualify for IM Norm.
Atul Kumar Gupta President All J&K Chess Association congratulated Soham Kamotra for splendid show. He also congratulated his basic coach Vivek Bharti Gupta and all other coaches including GM Swapnil Dhopade who helped him later.
All the members of AJKCA and J&K players congratulated Soham for this splendid show.
Soham is National U-18 Champion 2022. Now, he will be fully sponsored by SAI and AICF for World Youth at Romania and also Asian Youth at Indonesia in September and October respectively.
On behalf of All J&K Chess Association members, Atul Kumar Gupta President AJKCA wished him good luck for World Youth and Asian Youth.
