JAMMU, Mar 29: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in association with J&K Academy of Art Culture and languages showcased a musical evening ‘Voice of Punjab’ in which the mega winner of Voice of Punjab Contest-2016, Sonali Dogra mesmerised the jam-packed Abhinav Theatre with her soulful singing.
Sangeeta Gupta, Principal Commissioner Income Tax Department was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu was the guest on honor.
Regional Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, (ICCR) Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Balwant Thakur presented the welcome address and informed that ICCR takes pride in presenting before the audience one of the most diversified young talent of Jammu who through the sheer magic of her extra ordinary talent won the toughest singing contest of India. Sonali Dogra, who has brilliantly attained the proficiency equally in Sufi, Ghazal, Devotional, Dogri Folk, Classical, Semi-Classical and Bollywood has done yet another proud by winning the Voice of Punjab. Born in 1992, Sonali Dogra started her career both as dancer and singer at a very early age and later focussed in singing only and with her hard work brought laurels at every level of her success. She has various awards to her credit.
Sonali started today’s programme with Sufi singing and transported the audience along to another world where she demonstrated the variegated variety of her diverse range of singing which varied from Dogri folk singing to popular Bollywood.
The most noteworthy feature was the professional accompaniment of Sonali’s instrumentalists who came all way from Punjab to enliven Jammu audience. They included Sunny on Keyboard, Raman Sondhi on Octopad, Saleem Ali on Tabla and Sunny on Guitar.
On the occasion, ICCR Jammu felicitated Sonali Dogra with the presentation of a plaque of honour. The felicitations were done Sangeeta Gupta, Principal Commissioner Income Tax Department, Danesh Rana, Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Balwant Thakur, Regional Director ICCR Jammu and Aziz Hajini, Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
Prominent among those who graced the occasion included Saswati Bandopadhyay, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts, North India, Mubassir Latiffi, SSP Crime Branch, RC Puri, Secretary Red Cross, Jammu, Vikrant Sharma, Programming Head 92.7 Big FM, Hasrat Gadda, Brij Mohan, Ravi Sharma, Kamal Sharma and Subash Jamwal.
