JAMMU, Nov 9: Sonika Sharma of Akhnoor (Jammu) has made the Jammu proud by winning Mrs India Earth 2017 Face of North title at Mrs India Earth Pageant held recently at a hotel in Delhi.
Daughter of the soil, who represented Jammu in the competition, is a Principal at Chenab Army Pre Primary School II at Akhnoor. She is married to Lt Col Yogesh Sharma, who is commanding an Army unit at Akhnoor. She is a mother of a 12-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son.
In the traditional rounds of Mrs India Earth Pageant which mainly consisted of interview round, fitness round, feather dress round, question and answer round and traditional round, Sonika wore traditional Dogri dress of Jammu.
Sonika was one of the 48 finalists and only one from J&K for the Mrs India Earth competition, which is held annually under the aegis of Adiva group under directors, Ritika Vinay, Asia Pacific and Vinay Tarawa.
She took formal training under Tiara Pageant Training Studio at Pune, where she stood first in merit and won the Tiara Queen by TGPC crown. By winning the Face of North title, she has not only made the Jammu but also Army fraternity proud.
Sonika is actively involved in environmental control activities and has been silently working for the war widows as well as handicapped and under privileged children. She is a fitness freak and runs upto 50 km in a week. She has also ran three premium half marathons representing Jammu.
