SOS International meets Dr Jitendra Singh, Azad; submits memorandum of demands

NEW DELHI, Aug 18: SOS International delegation led by its chairman Rajiv Chuni met Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, MoS in Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Space and Atomic Energy and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and former Chief Minister of J&K Ghulam Nabi Azad in connection with long pending issues with Government of India and J&K Government.
Chuni along with Janak Singh, Ved Parkash Gupta, Raj Kishore Anand, Vijay Sharma, Labhu Ram and Paramjit Singh handed over a detailed memorandum to Dr Singh for BJP National President Amit Shah. Rajiv Chuni also submitted memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and HRD Minister Smriti Zubin Irani.
While speaking, Chuni demanded setting up of Refugee Development Board, review of temporary relief disbursed among the families/people on their arrival from PoK in 1947, extension of Displaced Persons Compensation and Rehabilitation Act of 1954 to J&K, allotment of 8 seats out of 24 seats of legislature in J&K Assemble to this displaced community, issuance of State subject certificates to these PoK DPs residing outside the State, special employment package for the unemployed PoK displaced youths, settlement of claims of deposits with J&K Bank Mirpur, satellite towns at par with Kashmiri migrants, refugee status to DPs of PoK for aid under United Nations set norms of UN refugee charter, consideration of compensation of the movable and immovable properties of DPs left behind by them in PoK, fund and finance to the PoK DPs on monthly bases.
Dr Singh assured the delegation that he would attach his strong recommendations with each memorandum for consideration of demands and settlement of the issues on priority.
The delegation also held a meeting with leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and former Chief Minister of J&K Ghulam Nabi Azad. The delegation impressed upon the Congress leader that his party being in coalition in the J&K can get the already drafted proposal approved in the Cabinet meeting, however NC is deferring the Cabinet meeting unnecessarily.
Azad assured the delegation that his party will not allow the fall of Omar Abdullah Government until the proposal for PoK refugee’s is adopted by the State Cabinet.
