Soujanya flags off 5-day ‘Trekking- cum-Rock Climbing Adventure Camp’

JAMMU, June 14: With an aim to promote adventure tourism in the region, the Tourism Depart-ment Jammu has organized a five day “Trekking-cum-Rock Climb-ing Adventure Camp” from June 14 to 18, 2014 at Sanasar in which 23 children from various parts of the State are participating.
With base at Sanasar, the trekkers will trek down Sankhpal, Mada and Nath Top. There will also be a two day ‘Rock Climbing ‘course at the base camp Sanasar.
The visiting tourists look for pilgrimage, adventure and leisure and J&K Tourism provides all the three classes of tourism to them. The camp has been organized to prop up national integration and self-confidence among the children besides promoting adventure tourism by exploring different potential treks of the region.
The camp is being supervised by Dr Rajesh Raina, Assistant Tourism Officer, adventure and qualified instructors for rock climbing and other adventure related activities.
Director Tourism, Jammu, Soujanya Sharma along with Joint Director Tourism, Jammu, Shiv Kumar Gupta and Deputy Director Tourism, Kewal Krishan adventure flagged off the tour.
While speaking on the occasion, Soujanya Sharma advised the children to explore the new treks so that these become great attraction for the tourists. He complimented the children for taking up this camp and wished them good luck.
Among others officers and officials of the Tourism Department and adventure sports loving people were present on the occasion.
