Sourav wins men’s title as 3rd Stag Jammu Open TT C’ship concludes

JAMMU, June 9: Udhampur boy Sourav Sharma claimed men’s singles title as 3rd Stag Jammu Open Table Tennis Championship concluded here today.
Ajay Sharma, Joint Secretary TFI and Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Table Tennis Association was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Satbir Singh, former International Table Tennis Player presided over the function.
In men’s singles final, Sourav Sharma defeated Maanay Mansotra by 11-09, 11-09, 08-11, 11-7 to win the title, while in men’s doubles, the duo of Ritvik and Saksham got the better of Maanay and Faizal to claim the title.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Sharma appreciated Stag Jammu Table Tennis Academy for giving a perfect launching pad to the young peddlers of the state and offered his full support in promoting the game.
Over 100 players from Udhampur and Poonch districts participated in the event to make this tournament a success.
The mementos were presented to the guests of honour including Sanjay Wahi, Ramesh Magotra, Sanjeev Gupta, Sandeep Khadotra, Meenu, Salinder Aima, Narinder Singh, Gurvinder Singh, Sanjeev Bhandari and Sanjay Langar.
Results:
Men’s Single’s (Finals): Sourav Sharma beat Maanay Mansotra 11-09, 11-09, 08-11, 11-7.
Cadet Boy’s Single (Finals): Aryan drubbed Gurshan 11-7, 11-8, 11-7.
Cadet Girls Final: Ragini trounced Hargun 11-7, 11-8 and 11-9.
Sub Junior Boys Finals: Sourav trounced Madhav 11-8, 9-11, 11-7 & 11-6.
Sub Junior Girls Finals: Iknoor Kour beat Ragini 11-7, 11-6 & 11-9.
Junior Boys Finals: Maanay outplayed Sourav Sharma 11-7, 11-8, 9-11 and 11-8.
Vote of thanks was presented by IP Singh, the Organizing Secretary of the tournament.
The matches were conducted under the supervision of Ramesh Magotra (Sr. Coach), Gurvinder Singh and Narinder Singh.
