Soz rejects Patra’s statement on Art 370

SRINAGAR, May 25: Former PCC president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has dismissed the remarks of senior BJP leader and party spokesperson Sanjay Patra on Article 370.
“The statement on abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, from BJP spokes-person did not deserve the response from certain quarters Sanjay Patra is not in possession of a level where he could be conversant with the implications of the statement he made,” Prof Soz said.
“I reject his statement as it deserves the same.  Sanjay Patra and other habitually talkative members of the RSS -BJP combine, must accept the fact decisively that Article 370 happens to be an essential element of the basic structure of the Constitution of India and no person on earth can amend or abrogate it, except through the free will of the people of Jammu and Kashmir State,”  the Congress leader maintained.
Mr  Patra do not wish to think as to why this Article was not amended, even marginally when BJP was in power for six and a half years under the leadership of  Atal Behari Vajpayee.
“It is not the question of Article-370 of the Constitution of India alone. The BJP’s successive election manifestoes, for more than forty years have, invariably, asserted that Article-370 of the Constitution would be abrogated, Common Civil Code adopted and Ram Mandir built.  In the realm of their mind, the RSS-BJP combine must have realized that none of these assertions could come true in a country like India which is a vast expanse of diversity,  that is essentially India’s strength,” Prof Soz maintained.
The Congress leader said  Ram temple can be built, but, only when Hindus and Muslims come together for a larger space of togetherness and harmony, or else, the Supreme Court of India has to decide the suit on the title.
