SP for strict action against rumor mongers

KISHTWAR, Sept 14: Superintendent of Police (SP) Yougal Manhas has expressed serious concern over uploading of pictures related to sacrilegious acts and unlawful activities on Social Media which have potential of creating the law and order problem in the district.
He has issued directions for strict monitoring of content on social media and appropriate action against rumor mongers.
“Some people have been constantly uploading pictures related to sacrilegious acts on WhatsApp groups particularly on Facebook, which can create law and order problem in the district”, SP said, adding that this tendency has been viewed very seriously and Whatsapp news groups and Facebook have been put on scanner to pin point such persons who are involved in these kind of acts and other unlawful activities.
Mr Manhas further stated that the persons sharing such information will be held responsible for consequences and legal action will be initiated against them.
He has asked all the Supervisory Officers and SHOs of Kishtwar district to keep a vigil on social media and take stern action against culprits under relevant provisions of RPC and IT Act.
A general advisory has also been issued for the public advising not to indulge in unlawful activities and make aware of these types of acts during the conduct of public meetings in the district.
