SP School drubs AGM to win title

SRINAGAR, Aug 10: Outplaying AGM School convincingly by 10 wickets during a low scoring match in the summit clash, S P Higher Secondary School, Srinagar lifted the title trophy of the District Level Inter-School Cricket Tournament at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, here today.
The Tournament was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of its Director General, Jahangir Mir and under the supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Srinagar.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, AGM School was bundled out for a paltry total of 44 runs in 13 overs. None of the batsmen crossed the double figure mark as all the bowlers of SP School bowled with nagging line and teasing length. For S P School, Saqlain and Qamran took 3 wickets each, while Momin Mir claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, SP School chased the target in just 7 overs, without losing any wicket, thus won the match by 10 wickets. Aamir Suhail scored unbeaten 27 runs, while Qamran Iqbal contributed unbeaten 9 runs to the total.
According to the organizers, the prize distribution function will be held at Bakshi Stadium tomorrow.
Meanwhile, S P School bagged prestigious three awards in Under-19 Cricket Tournament, organized by Chinar Corps in Srinagar. While Qamran Iqbal was declared best batsman for scoring 172 runs, studded with 23 boundaries in the Tournament, Saqib Hussain and Saqlain Mehraj were awarded with best bowler and most valuable bowler awards by claiming 14 and 10 wickets respectively.
