Spalbar takes stock of development projects

LEH, Apr 20: Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Rigzin Spalbar, along-with Executive Councillor Health, Dr Sonam Wangchuk, Councillor, Basgo Tsering Norboo, heads of concerned departments and a team of engineers today embarked on a four-day visit to various parts of Leh and nearby blocks, to take account of the on-going developmental activities and to assess the public grievances.
On the first leg of his visit, CEC today visited the villages of Ney, Basgo, Nimoo, Umla, Taru, Phyang, Phey, MES Colony, Spituk, Pharka, Palam and Spituk Spang. He inaugurated a Medical Aid Centre at Ney at a cost of Rs 17 lakh out of which 11 lakh has been donated by HH the Dalai Lama and remaining 6 lakh has been given under NRHM constructed through Rural Development Department. He also inaugurated a 12-metre span RCC motor-able bridge at Thekchokling Ney at a cost of Rs 48.74 lakh.
Besides, the CEC inaugurated a 15 metre span RCC motor-able bridge Basgo-Chamba road at a cost of Rs 108.84 lakh at Basgo; a Medical Aid Centre at a cost of Rs 40.83 lakh and a Science lab, Computer lab, art/craft & library block at High School Nimoo at a cost of Rs 21.55 lakh under RMSA at Nimoo; a Medical Aid Centre at a cost of Rs 40.81 lakhs under NRHM constructed through PWD  and an Anganwadi Centre Phyang-II at a cost of Rs 6.50 lakh constructed through Rural Development Department at Phyang and an Aanganwadi Centre at Spituk Pharka constructed through Public Works Department.
While addressing the villagers at Ney, CEC advised them for optimum utilisation Medical Aid Centre which will help to reduce the rush at SNM Hospital Leh. If left without proper usage then there is every possibility of its deterioration with time, observed CEC.
Addressing people gathering at various villages, CEC expressed grave concern over the recent tragic incidents of losing human lives in Leh, saying such untoward incidents has labeled a bad impression on the civilized society of Ladakh. He urged the people to maintain the good moral character for which Ladakh is well-known since ages all over the world.
