Speaker for inculcating sports culture among students

SRINAGAR Sept 19: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul today said that the Students need both academics as well as sports facilities at school, college level, so that they become disciplined and healthy citizens.
The Speaker was addressing a Sports day event at Candid Higher Secondary Institute (CHSI) Nowgam, here today.
He said that Government has made elaborate arrangements for providing sports infrastructure at Tehsil, district and provincial level of the State and recently Government of India sanctioned Rs. 1000 crore for constructing sports fields, stadia and also for equipping the youngsters with adequate sports materials, so that the youth of the State shines in various sports activities both at State and National level.
Mr. Gul said that sports  is very necessary for growing children as it upgrades their mental ability. He asked the students particularly girls to adopt sports culture in their life and take part in every sports event to bag medals and honour for the State, School and for their parents. He also asked the school authorities to organise maximum sports events in their school.
The sports event was collectively organised by J&K Taekwondo Association and J&K National Sports Club Srinagar to celebrate its silver Jubilee year for its establishment in the State and also support and prepare the children to take part in Taekwondo Gold Cup 2013 being held from, November 15, 2013 to November 18, 2013 at Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Stadium Srinagar in which Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Turkey and Indonesia are expected to participate.
Mr. Gul distributed trophies and medals among the students who bagged first four positions in Teckwondo competition which include Ishaq Mohi-ud-Din, Yusra Jan, Faizan and Mehnaz.
