JAMMU, Aug 23: Speaker, Legislative Assembly (LA), Kavinder Gupta held interaction with the members of Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society (TNWS) and listened to the issues confronting the residents.
Ashok Arora, Vice President, TNWS, presented the welcome address and highlighted the demands of the residents including immediate conversion of ‘Lease Hold’ status of the plot owners into ‘Free Hold’ as done in case of other Government Colonies in Channi Himmat, Gandhi Nagar, etc, black topping of badly damaged roads and by-lanes, repairing of badly damaged drains, cleaning of Barsati Nallahs and proper drainage system to flush out flood waters during rainy season.
Er RN Kaw, Secretary of the society apprised the Speaker about the damages caused by floods on July 24 and August 6 in Sector 5 and 6. He said that seeping water through damaged drains had damaged the foundations of the houses and if necessary measures are not taken immediately, the houses may collapse anytime. Prompt action by the concerned departments viz JMC, R&B and UEED is called for.
While speaking, the Speaker assured the members that necessary action will be taken to address the grievances of Trikuta Nagar. He said as an MLA of the area he cannot allow residents to suffer for their legitimate demands and assured the TNWS his full cooperation in solving their problems.
