Speaker reviews water supply scenario in Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU, Feb 16: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today chaired a meeting of engineers of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department and took stock of present status of projects and water supply position in Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Kavinder Gupta instructed the engineers to look at every possible option to improve the capacity of existing establishments and moot new proposals keeping in view the future needs. He called for formulating plans for the revival of defunct water schemes to maintain and augment the supply. He directed the engineers to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing projects and complete these within the shortest possible time.
The Speaker also emphasized proper utilization of water resources, saying the Government and society need to come together and make conscious efforts to conserve water.
Engineers of different wings of PHE Department apprised the Speaker about the present status of various ongoing development works being executed in the area.
Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers of PHE and allied department were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Kavinder  Gupta inaugurated various development works in the area.
He inaugurated renovated lanes & drains at Gorkha Nagar along with the beautified platform at Press Morh, Bahu fort.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said maximum road length of Gandhi Nagar has been blacktopped and the work for rest of the roads has been approved and the same will start next month.
The Speaker said not only the pace, but focus was being laid on maintaining the quality of the works being taken up by the Government in the State. “This has become possible only due to the efficient and honest working of the BJP-PDP Government which is keen to take development to   every nook and corner of the State” he added.
