UDHAMPUR, Feb 13: Volleyball players displayed skill and class on Day-2 of the Governor’s Silver Rolling Volleyball Trophy at Government Degree College, here today.
On the second day today, GDC Ramnagar defeated Govt. College of Education Jammu by 2-0 (25-10,25-18), GDC Hiranagar got better of GDC Ramban by 2-0 (25-14,25-14), GDC Tangmarg prevailed over GDC Bemina by (2-1) (22-25,25-14,15-7), Govt. MAM College Jammu trounced GDC Budgam by 2-1 (23-25,25-15,15-12) and SPMR College of Commerce thrashed GDC Mendhar by 2-0 (25-22, 25-19).
In quarterfinals (men), GGM Science College defeated GDC Paloura by 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-7); GDC Udhampur drubbed GDC Tangmarg in straight sets by 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-12), GDC Ramnagar trounced SPMR college of Commerce Jammu by 3-1(25-15, 25-22,19-25,25-19) and GDC Hiranagar defeated Govt. MAM College in straight sets by 3-0 (25-15, 25-17,25-13).
In Semifinals (Men), GGM Science College defeated GDC Hiranagar by 3-1 (25-18, 26-24, 16-25, 25-20) and GDC Udhampur outplayed GDC Ramnagar by 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-9) and entered into the finals.
In Semifinals (women), GCW Gandhinagar defeated GDC Ramnagar by 2-0 (27-25, 25-13) and GDC Udhampur trounced GDC Jindrah by 2-0 (25-3, 25-9).
The final matches will be played tomorrow.
The Principal of the college Prof. S. S Bhalwal , Dr. Udhay Bhanu convener sports, other staff members & large number of students witnessed the competitions.
Kuldeep Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, Sanjeev Verma, Suresh Paul, Manik Nargotra, Rajesh Kumar Sunil Gupta, Nisha Devi and Kamaljeet Kour were the technical officials.
