The splendid victory of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in Ladakh Automous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh, elections is a historic moment both for the BJP, and the people of the region. The elections can be interpreted as the penetration of the BJP in one of the Congress party’s strong citadels. The party which was nowhere in sight some year ago in the region, is visible in almost every nook and corner of this region. With BJP now at helm of affairs, it has the responsibility of fulfilling all promises it has made with the people living here. The people have reposed their trust in the party, and party in turn should harness all its resources, to respect people’s verdict.
The party’s image has received a beating in Jammu province, after its legislators, it is said, failed to highlight the cause of Jammuites as promised. Nothing like that should happen in Leh.
Every councillor has to exert to meet the aspirations of people, particularly those who do not have a voice.
