JAMMU, Sept 20: Government SPMR College of Commerce donated relief for the people, who were affected by the recent flash floods in the State.
The Principal, Dr Satinder Singh along with senior staff members devised a strategy of spreading the relief work for a longer period to flood hit areas by dividing the relief work into three phases.
The principal stressed upon inculcating a strong commitment among the students towards building community work and awakening a sense of responsibility towards society at large.
The College raised a fund of Rs.46900 for the social cause.
The College donated some of the relief material to Srinagar by sending 550 bread loafs, jam bottles, medicines, blankets, warm clothes and water bottles and then the academic staff along with students went to Phallain Mandal and distributed eatables, fruits and other necessities.
In the third round of distribution, the Principal along with the NSS Programme Coordinator, Prof Pawan Gupta and staff members went to Shri Amarnath Yatri Bhawan, Bhagwati Nagar with food items, water bottles and medicines and donated it to the flood affected people sheltered there.
