RAJOURI, Sept 22: Stressing that the people must encourage their children to participate in sports activities which is beneficial for their overall growth, Member of Legislative Council (MLC) and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) State vice president Advocate Vibodh Gupta said that such activities can also bring the people of the three distinct regions—Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh of J&K State together.
Speaking on the concluding day of the inter-district sports meet which was organized at mini sport stadium, chief guest Vibodh Gupta congratulated all the participants and appreciated the students who were declared successful in different games and sports activities.
While interacting with the players of Kabaddi team, Vibodh informed that the Kabaddi is becoming popular day by day and instead of playing only cricket, the young generation must concentrate on other domestic games and sports also.
Vibodh also appreciated the efforts of district sports authorities for organizing such events and he informed that the present Coalition Government is committed to provide healthy and professional environment for the sports loving people of the State.
The MLC also took a round of the girls sports hostel in the complex and found that many facilities were lacking in the hostel as a result the female players are facing many hardships. Later, the MLC announced to release Rs 1.5 lakh from his Community Development Fund (CDF) for providing immediate relief to the female players. At the end, MLC distributed prizes and mementos among the winners of different sport events.
Other who accompanied the MLC were Rajinder Gupta, Kamal Bakshi and Ranjit Tara. District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Mohd Ayaz Khan was also present on the occasion.
