KISHTWAR, Mar 26: District Administration organised sports competitions for girls in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) at Chowgan Ground, here today.
The sports competition was organised under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma.
During the event, cricket match and Tug of War competitions were organised in which students from different schools participated.
BVM School Kishtwar was declared champion in Inter-School Tug of War competition, whereas 2nd and 3rd positions went to ABN Public School and Jamai Public High School respectively.
DDC Kishtwar Chairperson Pooja Thakur, BDC Chairman Suresh Sharma, DDC Member Zakir Hussain Butt, DDC Member Palmar Tahir Masood, ADC Pawan Parihar, Assistant Labour Commissioner Anoop Kumar, DySP Hqrs Davinder Singh Bandral and DYSSO Kharati Lal Sharma were present during the event along with Masters and PETs.
Cultural programme and Nukkad Nataks were also staged on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Chairperson Pooja Thakur said that parents play an important role in shaping the future of their girl children and asked the parents to treat both boys and girls equally. She further added that girls are important stakeholders in the development of society and it is our collective responsibility to take care of their needs and empowerment.
Prizes were also distributed among the winners by the chief guest, whereas Zorawar Singh (PET) managed the entire programme.
