Jammu, Jan 15: The officials of J&K State Sports Council concluded their visit to the bordering Poonch district and inspected the ongoing works at the Sports Stadium of the district.
An official here today said that a team comprised of Chief Sports Officer Abdul Qayum and Divisional Sports Officer, Rajan Sharma inspected the under process works at the stadium including renovation of official building, levelling of the ground besides fencing cum construction of boundary wall, which is almost completed.
“Nearly 300 to 400 players representing various disciplines like hockey, handball, boxing and volleyball, daily attend the practice session at the stadium,” said an official adding that the sportspersons apprised the visiting members of their grievances and sought betterment of sports facilities in the remote and backward regions of the State.
He further asserted that the players of various disciplines also emphasised for special training and coaching camps so that more players can participate and represent tournaments/ championships of national repute.
The officials, however, also toured the Rajouri district where sports promoters vis-a-vis the players sought appointment of coaches in Judo, Wrestling, Kabaddi and Athletics so that the talent can be promoted in the right direction for outstanding results.
