JAMMU, Oct 17: Jodhamal Public School celebrated its 11th Annual Sports Day with pomp and show, here today.
The dignitaries present were Dr Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner Jammu as the chief guest and Nandan Kuthiala, Trustee of the School as the guest of honour.
Principal Jammu Sanskriti Rohini Aima and Principal Bhargawa Public School Vivek Arora also graced the occasion with their presence.
The event started with lighting of torch lead by Prerak Bist and Sheoli Chauhan, Sports Captains of Jodhamal, evoking God’s blessings.
Sports Captain welcomed the chief guest and the dignitaries by a short speech and he asked all players to play with sportsmanship and to follow the discipline of the game.
The Principal of the School, Trilok Singh Bist in his speech welcome the guests, parents and all the spectators.
He said that it is the day when students are freed from the fretters of learning to jump and run around, adding it is also the day for the parents to feel proud of their ward’s success and failures.
The students showcased their multifaceted talent in the events like Swimathon, 100 Meters Race, 200 Meters Race, 4 x 100 Meters Relay Race, Fireman Lift, Lemon Spoon Race, Hurdle Race, Wheel & Barrow Race, Sack Race and Let Us Go to the School for the Toddlers.
An array of rainbow colours and eloquence was displayed via the Hula-Hoop Demonstration, Aerobics and the tri-coloured demonstration of Vande Mataram. A well synchronized Mass P.T, Lezium and Dumbbell demonstration added charm to the show. All the demonstrations were appreciated by one and all for the rhythm, colour and coordination.
Dr Pawan Kotwal said that he was delighted to watch the athletes and the vibrant demonstrations put up by the students.
The winners were honoured by the chief guest and Lauran Bridgeman, Rebeakah Amy Jerram both from UK, working as Teaching Assistant in Jodhamal Public School.
The winners in 200 Meters Race – Ishan and Dhriti were (1st), in 100 Meters Race Abhishek & Akriti (1st), in 400 Meters Race Abhishek (1st) and in Relay (girls) Dhavani, Mehak, Shristi, Akriti won the race and in the Relay Boys category Prerak Bist, Akshat, Abhishek and Anindya won the race.
The overall Football Trophy also went to Challenge House, the overall Basketball Trophy was given to Enterprise House and the overall Swimming Trophy was presented to Invention House. The overall Skating Trophy was conferred to Discovery House.  Various students were given the trophy for individual events they excelled in.
Best Athelete of the year award went to Prerak Bist and Akriti Jasrotia. Best Footballer was given to Sahil Atri, best Cricketer Abhishake, best Swimmer Dhairya Chaudhary, best Taekwando to Akshit and best Basketball player award was given to Danish Koul.
At the culmination of this mega event, everyone was enthralled by the soothing and pious shlok sung by Nandani Kapoor of Class XI, which was then followed by the National Anthem.
