UDHAMPUR, Jan 9: A sports tournament among jail inmates was organised at District Jail in collaboration with Youth and Service Sports Department under the supervision of Superintendent District Jail Harish Kotwal, here today.
DYSSO Sawarn Singh was the chief guest, wherein Physical Education Instructors including Raman Gupta and Anshu Brat Khanna imparted coaching to inmates in various physical sport activities.
Around 150 inmates took part in various sport activities. The chief guest said that sport is good for your physical and mental health. It also helps you to develop leadership skills and equip you with the ability to set goals and build character.
Superintendent Harish Kotwal also threw light on positive effects of sport activities and said that the sport activities can reduce the tension and stress. The Superintendent also thanked jail staff and teachers deputed by the physical education department, Ishtiaq Ahmed Malik and Dr Vinod Kumar Bhardwaj for organizing this event successfully in a disciplined manner.
