JAMMU, Nov 7: Government Medical College-Jammu (GMC-J) inaugurated ‘Sports Week’ and dedicated this year’s sports event to Dr Ritu Gupta, Professor of Physiology Department of College, here today.
During the sports week, games of different disciplines including Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom and Squash will be played which will culminate on November 13.
Dr. Ritu Gupta was a beacon of hope and will be remembered as an ever smiling, head strong lady who aced her subject and had a special bond with her students.
In her honour, the ceremony was facilitated by the students of the sports committee in the presence of Principal Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Chairman Sport’s Committee Dr Parmod Kalsotra and the special guests of honour were her family members, including daughter Urvi Gupta, brother Suresh Jandyal and sister-in-law Arti Jandyal.
The principal also inaugurated the newly functional ‘Sports Complex’ and uplifted the morale of the students by playing Badminton herself.
The ceremony ended by everyone adhering to the sports pledge and upholding the virtue of sportsmanship.
