DYSS XI drubs Income Tax XI by 62 runs
*Dr Saleem gets MoM, Parminder adjudged best batsman

JAMMU, Feb 28: Terming sportspersons as the messengers of peace, unity and prosperity, Commisioner Income Tax Jammu, Mona Singh lavished praise on the organisers of exhibition cricket match for providing opportunity to the employees of Income Tax Department and the Department of Youth Services & Sports to showcase their cricketing skills and enhance their fitness levels.
She said this during a valedictory function of the exhibition cricket match, organized by Young Star Cricket Club and Jammu District Cricket Association at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Mona said that the employees of these departments hardly get much time to improve their fitness levels, adding that such events serve as a launching pad for them in making proper use of their leisure time.
She was all praise for Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, DG Sports and Rakesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner Income Tax for helping the organisers in holding the event in a befitting manner.
She was accompanied by MP Singh, Commissioner Income Tax (Appeals), Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, DG Sports and Ankush Abrol, former Member BCCI as the special guests, while Vinod Sharma, president Jammu District Cricket Association and Rajesh Dhar, former Chairman Media Committee JKCA were the guests of honour.
Earlier, batting first, DYSS XI scored a good total of 168 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process. Parminder Singh top scored with 64 runs off just 40 balls, studded with 9 boundaries, while Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman and skipper Suresh Singh contributed 27 runs each. Vikram Dogra also chipped in with 19 runs, while Dinesh contributed 10 runs to the total. For Income Tax XI, Abhay, Sonu and Rakesh claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Income Tax Department managed to score 106 runs to lose the match by a big margin of 62 runs. Harvinder and Hardeep contributed 12 runs each, while Gurminder and Rakesh Kumar made 10 runs each. Dr Saleem was the pick of the bowlers for DYSS XI, who scalped 2 important wickets, while Suresh Singh, Parminder Singh, Anmol Bhan, Vikram Dogra and Amaan claimed 1 wicket each. For his all-round display, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman was adjudged as the man of the match, while Parminder Singh and Abhay were adjudged as the best batsman and best bowler respectively.
The organisers also honoured outstanding performers at the higher levels namely Abdul Samad, Shubham Khajuria and Aarav Mahajan, whose awards were received by their parents Mohd Farooq, Pardeep Khajuria and Abhishek respectively.
The proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by Cricket commentator Rajesh Dhar.
