JAMMU, Aug 29: Sprawling Buds School Bantalab paid rich tributes to the legendary hockey player, Padma Bhushan Major Dhyan Chand on his birthday by celebrating the National Sports Day in its premises.
The programme commenced with fun races which including lemon and spoon race, gunny bag race and three leg race which were followed by a balloon-filling competition.
A tug of war competition was also played between the Junior and Senior students.
Ram Khajuria, Secretary Tawi Trekkers, J&K was the chief guest on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, Mr Khajuria briefed the students about the importance of the Day. He dwelt at length on the life and achievements of Major Dhyan Chand on whose birthday the National Sports Day is celebrated all over India.
Later, prizes were distributed among the winners of various competitions.
In tug-of-war competition, Peace House emerged winner, while in Lemon-Spoon race, Rehan, Parul Manhas and Himanshu claimed first three positions respectively.
In sack race, Arihant Singh Jasrotia, Rishika Bhat and Manas Bhat bagged first, second and third position respectively, while in balloon filling competition, Randeep Parihar, Shradha Raina and Vishab Kumar bagged first, second and third position respectively.
In three leg race junior category, Zuff i and Rohit; Mannat and Sajal and Arunima and Ojeas Bhan won first three positions respectively, while in senior category, Arun and Mandeep; Aryan and Manan and Bhumi and Rahat claimed first three positions respectively.
