JAMMU, Mar 15: Two sport climbers of J&K namely Anil Kumar and Aman Arora left today for Delhi to attend a three days National Belayers’ Course at Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi, the apex body for surface adventure sports in the country.
The course is being conducted by IMF from March 17 to March 19, 2015.
Both the climbers have been sponsored by Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, Jammu.
The aim of the course is to produce trained belayers who can maximize the safety of the climbers during sport climbing training and competitions.
It is pertinent to mention here that a belayer (the person who handles the rope) is responsible for the safety of the climber during a lead or a speed climbing competition.
The successful completion of this National Belayers course by these climbers will enable the Association to conduct the competitions on its own, without hiring Belayers from outside the State.
Earlier, Ram Khajuria and Shawetica Khajuria, general secretary and joint secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K along with the climbers called on the Director of Sprawling Buds School, Arti Sharma to express their gratitude for the liberal sponsorship.
Arti Sharma wished the climbers grand success and assured them that the school is committed for the promotion of sport climbing in the state and would sponsor them for any further advance course also.
