KATHUA, Dec 23: The Silver Jubilee Annual Function of Spring Dales English School Changran, Kathua “Urja-2018” was celebrated with great zest and zeal in the school premises, here today.
Padmashri Balwant Thakur, Director Natrang was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Director Social Welfare, J&K Govt. presided over the function. Lalit Mahajan, Patron, BVP Punjab North, Advocate Bharat Bhushan and Prof Manu Sharma were the guests of honour.
Introducing the main theme of the day ‘Urja’, the cultural programme began highlighting energy and enthusiasm. Bhangra stole the show with mesmerising and foot tapping beats of the Dhol.
The performances were based on the themes of Women Empowerment, Ill effects of Social Media, Tribute to Indian Army, Shakespeare’s Meachant of Venice, Dogri Dance, Musical Performance etc.
School Magazine named “Saplings” was inaugurated by the chief guest and the guests of honour on the occasion.
Director, Prof RK Gupta presented Annual Report enumerating the stupendous State, National and International level achievements of the students, and alumni in the field of academics, sports and extracurricular activities which has led to the school being ranked the No-1 State Board School in J&K and No-10 State Board School in India by Education today. Continuing with the tradition of appreciating and acknowledging highest excellence, the meritorious students (marks greater than 95%) of class 10th were presented with Cheques of Rs 2000 while those of Class 8th were presented with Cheques of Rs 1000 each.
The chief guest was impressed by knowing that 24 students of Class 10th scored more than 95% marks out of 48 appeared and 24 students of Class 8th scored more than 95% marks out of 52 appeared.
The Awards were presented to the topper students and the student with highest attendance of each class. Besides this, the extraordinary performers amongst Teachers, Non Teaching Staff Drivers and Helpers were awarded with “Pillars of the School” Award for their dedicated services.
The chief guest in his speech congratulated the School Management for wonderful contribution to the nation building by nurturing the unique talent of each student and bringing out so many achievers in various fields.
The program culminated with the soulful musical display of the national anthem.
