JAMMU, Apr 5: Natrang concluded its ten day ‘Spring theatre workshop’ with the presentation of a new play “School on Strike”, based on a story by Vishnu Prabhakar and directed by Aarushi Thakur.
The story of the play revolves around a group of children who declare strike against the school authorities. They wish that their demands are fulfilled or else they would not attend classes. Their demands are childish and are handled by the school administration in a manipulative manner. In the end however the students realise that they were wrong to strike against the authorities and promise to never disrupt the system of the school.
In this workshop the children were involved in the playmaking process and the design of the production. Every year Natrang provides a platform to young budding talents to perform and gain confidence to be on stage. In their formative years, it is very important that a child is introduced to theatre so that it shapes their personalities and gives them the confidence to achieve heights. Although in this limited time bound workshop, children only get to the tip of the iceberg but an introduction to theatre is what they accomplish at the end of it.
On the occasion Natrang Director Padamshree Balwant Thakur informed that these children will be given special consideration on Natrang’s annual summer Theatre camp-2017 which will be of 45 days duration.
The children who participated in the play include Sumedha Manhas, Riya Jandial, Asma Gul, Akardhan Bhandari, Akshun Gandotra, Saffron Mahajan, Navya Jain, Urvi Sharma, Devam Anathal, Amay Kawatra, Porshia Bhist, Anirudh Bhist, Rishi Kaartik, Shruti Bhasin, Saibaa, Saisha, Satish Kumar, Aanandita Sethi, Gun Sethi, Kushaan Baliya, Daiwak Sharma, Harsh Dogra, Aviral Kapoor, Suhani Gupta, Mannat Soni, Mannan Soni, Jasmann Singh, Jaanvika Narchal, Pranavshulendraditya Kapoor, Aashima Gupta, Shivesh Gupta, Devisha Gaur, Shruti Sharma, Saanvi Gupta, Rudra Kohli, Saanvi Anand and Xenia.
