Squash Championship concludes

SRINAGAR, July 25: District Budgam Squash Championship, organized by Budgam District Squash Rackets Association in collaboration with J&K Squash Rackets Association under ‘My Youth My Pride’ initiative of J&K Sports Council concluded at Squash Complex, Gindun Stadium here today.
Over 75 players from different schools took part in Under-15 boys and girls, Under-17 boys and girls, Under-19 boys and girls and Senior Men’s categories.
Safeera Khan, Principal GP Mission School, Budgam was the chief guest on the occasion, while Mohd Iqbal Beigh was guest of honour.  Khan congratulated District Squash Association of Budgam for taking steps with regard to promotion of Squash by organizing District Level competitions, adding that it will definitely boost morale of the students.
She also congratulated the medalists and assured that modern equipment facilities will be provided to participants for forthcoming Championships. The chief guest also extended gratitude to J&K Sports Council for providing quality infrastructural facilities to hold the Championship.
Mohd Iqbal Beigh advised the players to continue playing Squash for professional benefits as the sport falls in SO-12 (Appointment of Outstanding Sports Persons). He told the heads of Squash Association to conduct the talent hunt programme, besides organizing Special Training Camps for better results.
Later, the chief guest and the guest of honour distributed medals and trophies among the winners, runners-up and the team bagging third place.
The championship was sponsored by Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council. The final results were Men;  Abrar Shabir Gold, Alim Bashir Silver,  Adil Bronze. In boy’s under-19, Shahid Gold, Tahir Mir Silver, Athar Bhat won Bronze.
Girls under 19, Rehana Fayaz Gold, Ayesha Lateef Silver, Sahiba Zahoor Bronze.  Boys Under 17; Shahid Fayaz Gold,  Adnan Rashid Silver,  Salman Majeed Bronze. Girls Under 17; Tabassum Maqbool Gold,  Adiba Shabir Silver,  Rahila Hassan Bronze. Boys Under 15; Sadat Shabir Gold, Sahil Khurshid Silver,  Riyan Lateef Bronze. Girls under 15; Huziafa Feroz Gold, Hafsa Riyaz Silver, Rifat Zehra Bronze.
