JAMMU, Mar 22: The SR College of Competitions has conducted a workshop on Indian economy with focus on aspirants preparing for upcoming JKPSC and UPSC examinations.
The visiting expert faculty from Delhi, Dr Raj Shekhar touched varied topics amidst discussions on selected subjects. In this workshop on Indian economy, the focus was on basic concept of economy, economic growth, development and other models. Detailed discussions took place on major economic decisions before 1991 reforms and post reforms period.
To update the target students, the visiting faculty discussed in length the new budget and economic survey of Government of India as also concept of budgeting. Besides concept of money and budgeting, the students were also taught about budget and new economic survey of the country. With regard to bank, discussions took place regarding recent changes in banking system like payment banks, small banks, changing role of Post Office after financial inclusion etc.
Topics like Food Policy of the country, reforms in FCI, Indian trade and commerce also came up for discussions. Since the topic Indian Economy covers a lot, the practical problem in India like stalled projects, non performing assets of banks and impact of global economic slow-down on India were touched. Further, it has also been decided to touch new Government concepts like Make in India, Start Up India, NITI (National Institute of Transforming India) Ayog, its role and comparison with former Planning Commission in future workshops, Director of the College, Parveen Sharma said.
