JAMMU, May 10: A group of senior cricketers of J&K Union Territory distributed a cash amount of Rs 1000 and ration items among needy local groundsmen, umpires and scorers at Science College Hostel ground here today.
The cricketers included Rajesh Gill, Rakesh Koul, Sudhir Singh, Amit Gupta, Raj Khajuria, Avinash Kumar, Saleem-Ur -Rehman and Madan Mohan, besides Amit Kumar and Naveen Koul, the cricketers of Media team.
The cricketers informed that 20 needy persons including groundsmen, umpires and scorers of different grounds were nominated and a cash amount of Rs 1000 each, ration items and masks were distributed among them.
“It is just a goodwill gesture from the senior cricketers to those who have been instrumental in promoting cricket and cricketers in Jammu,” informed senior cricketers.
Those who donated included Avinash Kumar (ration items), Rakesh Koul (Rs 4000), Raj Khajuria (Rs 4000), Rajesh Gill (Rs 2000), Sudhir Singh (Rs 1000), Amit Gupta (Rs 1000), Saleem-Ur-Rehman (Rs 1000), Madan Mohan (Rs 1000 and Amit Kumar (Rs 1000).
The junior cricketers namely Rohan Gill, Achintiya Khajuria and Ashotosh Koul also contributed Rs 1000 each for this noble cause.
