REASI, Mar 13: The formidable side of SRCC Udhampur qualified for the quarterfinals stages of the ongoing 4th edition of the Katra Premier League (KPL), organized by Sports Club Katra in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at Sports Stadium, here today.
In the pre-quarterfinals, the SRCC trounced Sports Academy Katra by seven wickets. Batting first, after winning the toss, Sports Academy Katra set a target of 146 runs for the loss of five wickets, which, in reply, SRCC chased in 18.3 overs for three wickets.
Sahil Seth played a match winning knock of 59 runs off just 39 deliveries hitting six boundaries. He was later named man of the match and awarded with Rs 2100 cash prize. From Sports Academy Katra, Rahul was the most successful bowler with two for 26 in four overs.
Earlier, Sports Academy made 146 runs, courtesy superb batting from Abid, who made 53 runs including eight fours and a six. Munish bowled a brilliant spell taking away four wickets for 31 runs from SRCC Udhampur.
In another pre-quarter final stage encounter, Hill View Rajouri trounced Amil Cricket Club Delhi by 57 runs. Batting first, Hill View set a target of 192 runs for eight, which, in reply, Amil could not chase and bundled out for 134 runs in 15.4 overs.
Earlier, Shiv Kumar Sharma interacted with the teams playing in the first game of the day. President Kreeda Bharati J&K and head of the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma along with president of Chamber of Tourism, Trade and Industry Katra, Raj Kumar Padha encouraged the players amidst appreciation for the organizers for providing the rural youth a platform to perform and excel.
Shiv Kumar was all praise for the Shrine Board for supporting and collaborating with the local youth in organising big events in the holy town.
