Srinagar Shah Jahans, Baramulla Bahadurs script wins in KPL

BARAMULLA, June 11: Srinagar Shah Jahans and Baramulla Bahadurs scripted resounding wins over their rivals to move into the next round of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) Chinar Cup 2012, being organized by Army in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports at various venues in the Valley.
Earlier, Srinagar Shah Jahans outplayed Baramulla Tigers by 4 wickets in the match played at Shauqat Ali Stadium, Baramulla.
Batting first Baramulla Tigers scored 123 for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, which in reply Srinagar Shah Jahans chased in 18.4 overs by losing 6 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 4 wickets. Amir Aziz of Shah Jahans was adjudged man of the match.
Major General Bipin Rawat, General Officer Commanding, Dagger Division and former Test Cricketer and Commentator Arun Lal were the chief guests on the occasion.
Meanwhile, in the second match played at Puttasai Bandipora, Baramulla Bahadurs trounced Bandipur Bisons by 4 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, Bandipur Bisons scored a paltry total of 84 runs in 19.3 overs, which in reply Baramulla Bahudurs chased in 13 overs by losing 6 wickets to win the match by 4 wickets. Mudasir Mohammad of Baramulla Bahadurs was declared man of the match.
Brig Anil Puri, Commander 81 Mountain Brigade, and Nizamuddin Bhat, MLA Bandipur, were the chief guests on the occasion.
