New Delhi, Aug 1:
The BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel today put all speculation to rest by stating that N Srinivasan will be chairing tomorrow’s working committee meeting of the BCCI.”
“He (Srinivasan) is the BCCI chief and he has already started working. There is no confusion as to who will chair tomorrow’s working committee meeting. Nobody till now has forced Mr Srinivasan to resign,” Patel told reporters here today.
Asked whether a fresh probe panel will be formed by the BCCI as demanded by one of the senior vice-presidents Niranjan Shah, Patel gave a terse reply, “I have got nothing to do with it. Ask Niranjan Shah about it! Any decision regarding this can only be taken by the Working Committee and IPL Governing Council. If somebody is talking, it is not well.”
That Shah’s comments hasn’t gone down well with senior office-bearer was further proved when he added, “Without considering the legal aspect of it, it will not be in good taste to comment on it. We are meeting tomorrow as we honour Bombay High Court’s judgement and we will be working on it.”
Asked about the main agenda of the meeting, Patel said, “We will discuss the report of the Probe Commission.”
When asked about the chances of setting up a fresh probe committee, he said, “It’s my personal view that no fresh committee will be formed. As far as the Mumbai Police’s investigations are concerned, we have got nothing to do with it.” (PTI)
