Srishti, Saiyam lift Hopes Girls, Boys titles

JAMMU, Dec 21: Srishti emerged winner of Hopes Girls and Saiyam clinched Hopes Boys title, while Nitya and Ritvik defended their last year’s cadet title in the ongoing 45th Stag Jammu and Kashmir Table Tennis Championship, organised at Indoor Complex MA Stadium, here today.
The third day of the Championship witnessed finals of the Hopes and Cadet categories.
In the hopes girls (Under-11), Srishti won the title by defeating Elina by 3-1. Elina took the first game but Srishti bounced back with full vengeance to take the next three and the title. In the hopes boys, Saiyam got the better of Samar by 3-1.
On the attacking spree right from the start, Saiyam dominated most of the match. Samar tried his best by winning one game but that was not enough to outclass Saiyam.
Earlier, in the semi finals Samar defeated Aksar by 3-0 and Saiyam outclassed Pranit Badyal by 3-0. In the cadet girls final, Nitya kept her dominance by successfully defending her last year’s title by defeating Srishti by 3-0.
Hopes Girls (Under 11) finals, Srishti beat Elina by 3-1, while in boys finals, Saiyam beat Samar by 3-1 and in cadet girls (Under 13) final, Nitya defeated Srishti by 3-0, whereas in cadet boys finals, Ritvik trounced Pranit by 3-0, while in junior girls (Under 17) quarter finals, Iknoor beat Arushika by 3-0, Mishti defeated Nitya by 3-1, Ragini trounced Arya 3-0, and Hargun beat Vanshika by 3-1.
In junior girls (Under 17) semifinals, Mishti beat Iknoor by 3-1, and Ragini defeated Hergun by 3-0.
The matches were officiated by Meenu Rajesh, Asad Sharma and Vasu Dewan.
