SRTC workers stage protest, give 10 days ultimatum to Govt

JAMMU,  Jan 6:  The J&K State Road Transport Corporation workers  held protest demonstration at  Srinagar  headquarters of  the Corporation and Jammu PMD workshop complex in support of their demands today.
In Srinagar, a large number of workers  led by chairman of  J&K State Road Transport Corporation Workers Union, Wajahat Hussain  assembled at SRTC complex M A Road during the day and held strong protest demonstration. They raised slogans in support of their demands and alleged that Management of  the SRTC was not serious in implementation of  Rs 300 crore revival package and on other issues of the workers.
While addressing workers, the  chairman  of the Union claimed that  they have already served 10- day notice to the Management of  the SRTC on their demands on January Ist, 2018. It is going to be over on January 10. If their demands were not addressed by this period, they will be forced to launch  indefinite agitation including pen down, tool down and complete strike,
He said the consequences of  the losses to the Corporation will entirely be the responsibility of the Transport department. He alleged that no one from SRTC Management  or higher officials in the Transport department bothered to have dialogue and take initiative to settle the issues of  the SRTC workers so far.
In Jammu, the protest was led by Ashok Mehra  vice chairman, president Paramjit Singh and general secretary Janak Raj at Narwal workshop.  The Union leaders urged upon the  MD SRTC,  Mir Afroz  to address the issues, otherwise workers will be compelled to launch agitation from January 11, 2018. They said that charter of demands has already been submitted to the  Government through SRTC management.
These workers are demanding issuance of regularization  orders in favour of consolidated workers,  release of  pending 31 % DA and 6th Pay Commission arrears, revisiting of  transfer orders of  the technicians/female employees  and Ministerial staff ,  promotion of  junior drivers, over time in favour of crew  and technicians,  provision of basic facilities to   drivers, conductors  and workshop staff, establishment of recovery cell, revival of SRTC  Press, reshuffle of entire administration  and so on.
