Jammu, Jan 18: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), one of the Central Armed Police Forces deployed in the State of Jammu and Kashmir will be conducting Football Tournament in the month of February 2017.
According to the organizers, the teams of Sub Divisions in the Districts of Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Reasi and Ramban will participate in the Tournament.
Rajinder Bhumbla, Deputy Inspector General, SSB Srinagar and Mahendra Negi, Deputy Inspector General SSB Jammu said that SSB will act as facilitator to promote football and footballers in the region.
The theme of the Tournament is “Catch them young, let us have fun” and its aim is to reach out the communities, to encourage peoples’ participation, sharpen the sporting skills and techniques of footballers, provide positive recreational activities to youth, keep sportspersons in good spirit and inculcate spirit and healthy competition among players.
For holding the Tournament in a befitting manner, the organizers have requested Director Youth Services and Sports for providing expert officials and ground facilities.
Mr Negi said that 40 teams drawn from the districts Ramban (6), Reasi (6), Udhampur (10), Jammu (12) and Samba (6) are expected to take part in the event.
He further said that the matches will begin in the last week of February and the winners of District Level Tournaments will qualify for the Inter-District Football Tournament to be held at Jammu after the completion of the District Level Tournaments.
He added that SSB will provide kit items including football uniforms to the participating teams.
