JAMMU, Aug 27: Save Sharda Committee Kashmir (SSCK) performed Sharda Pujan on Line of Control (LoC) at Keran in Kupwara district of North Kashmir. The puja was for the first time performed since partition at this place on the Sharda Divas called Sharda Ashtami as well as Gang Ashtami yesterday. The puja was performed on the bank of river Kishanganga.
Led by head and founder of SSCK, Ravinder Pandita , the followers of Swami Nand Lal Ashram started from Tikker in Kupwara to Keran at LoC and performed the Puja for all deceased ancestors. The rituals were also offered to the unnatural deceased particularly in the on going violence in J&K UT.
The Kishenganga river is the dividing line on two sides of Kashmir and a heavily guarded zone between two armies. It was once the traditional routes to annual Sharda yatra during pre partition days, said Ravinder Raina.
The last saint of Kashmir who was seated at Sharda Peeth was Swami Nand Lal Ji who had later to migrate to Tikker in Kupwara in 1948 after tribal raid. Save Sharda Committee has been active for reopening of Sharda Peeth and is striving for cross LoC religious and heritage tourism. On the occasion of this annual Sharda Divas civil society members of PoK also paid obeisance at Sharda Peeth on the request of SSCK.
SSCK in its handout said that the Puja assumes significance as it was allowed by Indian Army as well as district police and the members demanded reopening of Sharda pilgrimage on the lines of Kartarpur pilgrimage.
