JAMMU, Apr 20: A departmental inquiry has been initiated against police officers for allegedly misbehaving with MLA Homshalibagh Abdul Majid Bhat.
As per police sources, on April 18 at around 8 pm, an information was received by Bakshi Nagar police station from PCR Jammu stating that a call has been received at Dial-100 desk of PCR Jammu from Puneet Sharma, who told that he saw one XUV car on its way from Maheshpura towards Pawan Ice Cream chowk, in which five persons are sitting and one of them is having weapon and appear to be suspicious.
“As there was already high alert in district Jammu in view of Prime Minister’s visit to Katra on April 19, the alert police team from Bakshi Nagar police station immediately swung into action and intercepted the said vehicle near Pawan Ice Cream chowk”, sources added.
Sources further stated that on verification it was found that the vehicle belongs to MLA Abdul Majid Bhat, adding that the person holding the weapon in the vehicle was Personal Security Officer (PSO) with MLA, who was wearing civil jacket and could not identified from outside as a policeman.
This procedure took some time and due to traffic jamming vehicle was unprecedently stopped there for the time more than required, sources said, adding that meanwhile the MLA felt inconvenience and brought the issue into the notice of higher-ups.
Meanwhile, SSP Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta has initiated a departmental inquiry against the police officers dealing with the situation. Any police officer, who will be found guilty for dishonouring or misbehaving with MLA, will be dealt strictly.
