POONCH, Feb 5: District Police Poonch organized a T-20 Cricket Tournament under Civic Action Programme in collaboration with Shaheed Manjeet Singh Volleyball Club Poonch, here.
SSP Poonch JS Johar was the chief guest during the opening ceremony, who declared the tournament open in an impressive function.
The opening match was played between Glamorous Cricket Club and Under-19 Cricket Club Poonch. Under-19 Cricket Club won the toss and decided to bat first. Under-19 Club was bundled out for paltry 85 runs. Lucky scored 21 and Piano 18 runs. From Glamorous club Deepak took two wickets and Rupinder bagged two wickets and Gurvinder also took two wickets. In reply Glamorous achieved the target in 15 hours. Pankaj Kumar was the highest scorer of the match with 31 runs and Gurvinder Singh scored 21 runs. Piano took two wickets for his team.
In his address, Mr Johar SSP Poonch appreciate the youth of Poonch for their interest in sports and games and stressed upon the youth to participate in sports event to not to fall prey to bad habits and not to derail from the mainstream.
Mr Mir and K K Kapoor spoke on behalf of the civil society.
Those who were present on the occasion included Rajinder Singh, Mohd Zaman, Deepak Dingra, Kalid Amin, Kirath Singh and Riyaz Mir.
The officials of the match were Sanjay Misri, Zahid Sharief and Romesh Kumar.
