JAMMU, Nov 20: Continuing the Traffic Awareness Campaign, Jatinder Singh Johar, SSP Traffic NHW, Ramban along with Pankaj Soodan, DySP Traffic Doda-Kishtwar, DTI Doda Inspector Bhovinder Singh and DTI Kishtwar Inspector Kesar Singh carried out the extensive checking from Khellani onwards to Thathri, Dhrabshalla and Kishtwar.
SSP Traffic NHW personally carried out challaning and booked 18 violators in different traffic violations. He also carried out on spot awareness among the commuters regarding wearing seat belt, wearing crash helmets, avoid use of mobile phone while driving and also not to carry extra passengers in PSVs in excess of the seating capacity as per the RC.
SSP met with the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana and shared with him the concerns regarding traffic safety measures required to be taken in order to prevent fatal accidents. He was made aware of the narrow stretches along the NHW-44 especially at Phagumarh and the Deputy Commissioner put up the matter with NHIDCL for carry out the remedial measures.
SSP also requested Deputy Commissioner for more parking space in the Kishtwar town and augmentation of the safety measure and improvement in the riding surface on the link roads. He also requested to provide more Government vehicles on hungry routes.
SSP Traffic also met the SSP Kishtwar and shared with him the similar concern and need to work jointly in the district as well as link roads so as to curb the practice of overloading and carrying of extra passengers and prevent accidents.
Challaning cum awareness exercise was also conducted in Kishtwar town.
SSP Traffic NHW also directed DySP Traffic Doda-Kishtwar, DTI Kishtwar and staff posted in Kishtwar to ensure regular roster based checking as well as surprise checking in the main town as well as link roads and enforce the amended MV Act vigorously.
