JAMMU, July 23: Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha State president, Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal, has demanded to start Gojri news on Doordarshan in J&K besides increasing its duration on AIR.
In a letter written to Union I&B Minister, Parkash Javadekar, Poswal said that Gujjars comprise of nearly 20% of the State’s population, and the majority of them reside along borders and in far flung areas of the State.
He also demanded from the Union Minister to increase the duration of Gojri news on AIR being broadcast on Radio Kashmir and Radio Jammu. He said that at present, Gojri news is being broadcast during evening only. He demanded from the Minister that the Gojri news be broadcast during morning also.
He said that a major chunk of Gujjars also reside on the other side of the border i.e PoK.
“Therefore, Gojri news on Doordarshan and its increased duration on AIR would go a long way in countering the anti-India propaganda being unleashed by Pakistan”, Poswal said.
