JAMMU, Nov 5: Jammu and Kashmir State Boxing Championship 2016 concluded at MA Stadium, here today.
Over 100 boxers in Sub Junior, Junior and Senior male and female categories took part in the Championship. The boxing teams drawn from Leh, Kargil, Srinagar, Kathua, Udhampur, Poonch, Samba, Reasi and Jammu participated in the event. Men and women boxing teams of Jammu and Kashmir Police also took part in the event.
President J&K Olympic Association, S Rangil Singh was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Dr Ashutosh Sharma was the guest of honour. They distributed medals and trophies among the boxers on the occasion.
In sub junior category 28-30 kg, Man Singh won gold, while Harsh Singh claimed silver, in 30-32 kg, Bharat Singh and Sunil Singh bagged gold and silver respectively, while in 34-36 kg, Kamal Sharma, Niyaz Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In 40-42 kg, Ranveer Singh won gold, Ashish Gurung bagged silver, while Gourav Kumar and Shah Farman claimed bronze medals and in 44-46 kg, Sunil Kumar won gold, Mansher Singh clinched silver and Asif-ul-Rahman claimed bronze.
In 46-48, Zakir Hussain and Wahid Latif won gold and silver respectively, while in 50-52 kg, Nasir Ahmed claimed gold and Harsh Dev bagged silver and in 54-56 kg, Nisar Hussain, Azeem Basharat and Sohail Ahmed claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively.
Gold, silver and bronze medals were also won by the players of junior men, senior men and senior women categories.
