JAMMU, Aug 29: The State Level Inter-District Competitions in the disciplines of Hockey, Gymnastics, Rope Skipping, Kick Boxing, Jeet Kwando, Thangta and Squay got underway at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium and Indoor Complex , MA Stadium, here today.
The Competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of Ved Parkash, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu.
In hockey Under-17 boys, District Srinagar beat District Samba by a solitary goal via sudden death, while Baramulla blanked Ganderbal by four goals to nil (4-0) and Jammu got better of Budgam by two goals to nil (2-0).
In hockey Under-17 girls, Jammu drubbed Budgam by two goals to nil (2-0) via tie-breaker, while Poonch thrashed Baramulla by five goals to nil (5-0).
In thangta Under-19 boys, the gold medal winners in different weight categories included Aman Kumar, Dineshwar Singh, Harsh Bhagat, Sahil Bhagat, Vikas Veer Singh, Nilesh Jamwal and Raman Jeet (all from Jammu District), while in squay Under-14 boys, Abhishek Khajuria, Arun Singh, Varun Datt and Rahul Singh won gold in below-25, 33, 37 and open category respectively.
Udhay, Vatsal and Akhil bagged gold, silver and bronze in gymnastics Under-14 boys (artistic), while Aman Sharma, Mangal Singh and Rajat Sharma got gold, silver bronze respectively and in Under-17 boys and Gourav Chatiri, Aryan Gupta and Harman Pal Singh claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Jeet Kwando Under-19 boys, gold medals in various weight categories were claimed by Momin Nissar, Akshit Ghai, Pravas, Paras Mehra, Hitesh Langer, Abhay Sharma, Amit, Vijay Singh and Danysh.
In rope skipping, Rahul and Kumar Shantanu of Jammu won in Double Under, while Vansh Shney of Jammu got better of Tarun of Jammu in endurance speed 3 minutes event and in free style, Sudanshu Sharma of Jammu prevailed over Suresh Kumar of Kathua. In relay, the winners included Gourav Singh of Jammu, Sunil Kumar of Jammu, Laksh Verma of Jammu and Abhishek Sangra of Kathua and in speed hop, Yaseen Ahmad of Doda was the winner.
In speed 30 sec. Under-19 girls, Aditya Jamwal of Jammu beat Minakshi of Kishtwar by 2 points, while in endocrance 3 minutes event, Sumaya Jain of Doda beat Neerja of Kishtwar and in speed hop, Sushma Devi of Kathua beat Sonia of Doda. In free style, Arjoo of Doda defeated Koshika Thappa of Kathua, while in relay, the winners included Aarya Koul of Jammu, Jeevika of Jammu, Shanu Devi of Doda and Nidhi Sharma of Kathua.
Meanwhile, in squay Under-17 girls, Ankush Singh, Jatinder Singh, Pawan Singh and Nitin Singh claimed gold in different weight catergories, while in squay Under-19 boys, Vikash Kumar, Pardeep Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Sushil Verma and Anuj Jamwal emerged winners in different weight categories.
