State Level U-19 Boys Cricket Tourney gets underway

KATHUA, Oct 5: Principal Police Training School, Kathua, Sanjeev Khajuria inaugurated the Inter- District State Level Under-19 Boys Cricket Tournament at Sports Stadium, here today.
The Tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports, Jehangir Mir, under the chairmanship of Joint Director, Madan Lal and supervision of Sunil Kumar District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua.
Nisar Ahmed Khan, Additional SP Kathua was the guest of honour.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Kailash Chander, Rajesh Sharma, Pawan Kumar, Kuldeep Singh, Joginder Kumar Khajuria, Mohan Lal Dub, Hari Gopal Sharma, Ajay Kumar and Darshan Kumar.
241 players drawn from 16 districts of the State participated in the event and the participating districts included Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, Kupwara, Baramulla,  Ganderbal, Srinagar, Kulgam, Shopian, Kishtwar, Doda and Anantnag.
Meanwhile, the opening match was played between Poonch and Baramulla in which Baramulla set a target of 106 runs in the stipulated 15 overs for Poonch.
In reply, District Poonch achieved the target easily by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets.  Imran Sohail of Poonch scored 29 runs off 27 deliveries, while Amandeep and Nadeem of the same district clinched 2 wickets each.
At District Police Lines venue, Doda defeated Reasi by 15 runs. District Doda scored 93 runs, but District Reasi collapsed at 78 runs in 15 overs, thus Doda won by 15 runs.  Vinay of Doda scored 19 runs of 11 balls.
The technical penal included Rajesh Kumar, Mohan Lal Dub, Parveen Singh, Vikas Gupta, Jai Paul Singh, Kuldeep Kumar, Parbhat Singh, Ram Lubaya, Kanwar Singh, Avinash Kumar , Sandeepan Sharma and Kulbhushan Singh.
Raghbir Puri, Sanjeev Sunny,  Virender Singh, Tilak Raj,  Mohinder Paul, Veena Devi, Sanjay Gupta were also present on the occasion.
