SRINAGAR, Aug 22: The screening committee of J&K State Sports Council headed by joint secretary JB Bali today selected the State rugby team to participate in the prestigious National Rugby 7’s Championship 2013, which is scheduled to commence from tomorrow at Bakshi Stadium, here.
The other members of the committee included MS Baba, chief sports officer, Abdul Qayoom, sports officer, Kashmir, Zamir Thakur and Prof BA Bhat, members of J&K State Sports Council.
According to the organizers, 20 teams across the Country will take part in first of its kind event in the State.
The opening ceremony will be held at 11:30 am tomorrow in which Governor NN Vohra will be the chief guest and it will be followed by the league matches.
The Championship is being organized by the J&K Rugby Association, under the auspices of Indian Rugby Football Union and is being sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
