Jammu, Dec 24: A number of deputations of Jammu city today met BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma, (C.A) and apprised him that the Health Centres/ dispensaries run by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), located the different parts of Jammu city have been closed by JMC Commissioner.
The deputations told BJP State President that these dispensaries were serving the people for decades, particularly providing vaccination facilities and catering their health related needs. They told that the medicines to these Health Centres / dispensaries were being provided by the Health Department of Jammu & Kashmir State. They also impressed that now when the Governments, both at the Centre and State level, have launched drives for the vaccinations of the newly born children for the eradication of infant and child born deceases, this step of the JMC is uncalled for.
Sharma, while expressing surprise over this decision, said that these Health Centres have been catering to the needs of poor people for decades and their closure will deprive the needy people of the health care facilities. He assured the deputations of taking up the issue with JMC authorities adding that the matter will be pursued to ensure that these decades old Health Centres are not closed.
Sat Sharma, while talking to other people who had came to met him at party headquarters said that the PDP-BJP coalition Government in the State is working towards mitigating the sufferings of the people, who have been continuously neglected and discriminated by the previous governments. He apprised the people that the coalition government has launched a number of developmental projects and initiated number of welfare schemes aimed to provide better facilities to all sections, in particular to uplift the poor and needy sections.
