SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Advisor to Governor, Farooq Khan today said that steps are afoot to revive the cultural, old age traditions and research activities in J&K.
The Advisor made these remarks during his visit to Tagore Hall, Old S.P. M Museum, New Museum and S.P.S. Library.
The Advisor was accompanied by M.D. Police Housing Corporation, Syed Afadul Mujtaba, M.D. JKPCC, M. Raju, Secretary Culture and Technical Education, Zubair Ahmad, D.G, Libraries and Research G.A. Sofi, Director Archives and Archaeology, Muneer ul Islam and other senior officers.
During his visit to old S.P. S Museum, the Advisor was briefed that INTACH has been hired as consultant to restore the pristine glory of the Museum. On the occasion, Advisor directed the concerned officers to expedite the process so that cultural value of Museum is restored. The Advisor also visited various blocks of New Museum and took stock of activities there.
At Tagore Hall, the Advisor directed concerned officials to form a team of experts which would recommend ways and means to upgrade the Facility on modern lines so that cultural activities get a boost and also give encouragement to local artists.
Later, the Advisor visited S.P.S Library and inspected various sections of the library. He directed all modern facilities be made available to the students and researchers. He also directed proper cataloging of books so that research activities are carried smoothly. The Advisor expressed the hope that youth would come in large numbers and would get benefited.
