AKHNOOR, Dec 29: A superb half-century by Dilawar Singh helped Street Warriors Club Akhnoor outplay Singh Challenger Cricket Club by 36 runs to enter the finals of the Christmas Cup T20 Cricket Tournament at Government Higher Secondary School Ground, here today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Street Warriors scored a decent total of 176 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Dilawar Singh scored a brilliant half-century (56) runs, studded with 9 fours and one six, while JB Singh contributed valuable 36 runs and Raju chipped in with 15 runs. For Singh Challenger Club, Rahul Langer was the pick of the bowlers, who claimed 4 important wickets, while Abitash bagged two. Pankaj and Sunil also took one wickets each.
In reply, Singh Challenger managed to score 140 runs in 19.2 overs, thus lost the match by 36 runs. Gourav Kumar (39) and Vinod Kumar (26) were the main contributors. For Street Warriors, Ubey captured 3 wickets, while Roshan and Aman bagged 2 wickets each. Deepak claimed one wicket. Dilawar Singh was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant knock.
The match was officiated by Vikas Bali and Sunny Kumar as umpires, while Rajesh Sharma was the scorer.
Meanwhile, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma visited the venue and witnessed the match.
