JAMMU, May 21: The J&K Strength Lifting Association today honoured the team players who brought laurels to the state by winning medals in the 28th National Strength Lifting Championship and incline Bench Press Championship.
They were felicitated in a simple but impressive function held at Gandhi Nagar, here.
The function was also attended by Association President Vicky Mahajan.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahajan appreciated the Association’s performance as a team and congratulated all the medal winners of the mega event which was recently held at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, Punjab.
The medal winners included Faisal Paul, Varun, Dhanuk Mansotra and Raman Sharma. While Faisal won gold medal in 95 weight category by lifting 740 kg weight, Varun won bronze in 105 kg weight category by lifting 307.5 kg weight in incline Bench Press.
Dhanuk won two silver medals in 115 weight category by lifting 697.5 kg weight and 310 kg weight in incline Bench Press. He competed in junior age group and created new national record in two-hand curling by lifting 80 kg weight.
Raman Sharma, social activist, won silver medal in 76 weight category by lifting 307.5 kg weight.
Other team members were Nischal Zutshi, Love Radhey, Sourav Biral, Arun Anand, Mangu Choudhary, Sushant, Vansh Gupta, Jatin Sharma, Bhanu Dev Singh and Tajinder Singh.
The other members of the organisation, who were present on the occasion, included Satpal Sharma, Vikas Abrol and Ashok Singh.
The association also honoured senior player Rakesh Kumar and gave him an ‘Appreciation Letter’, which was received from Punjab Strength Lifting Association for his brilliant performance in the International Championship which was held in Nagpur earlier this year.
