Students expelled as MHRD fails to pay PMSSS scholarship

SRINAGAR, Dec 26: Twenty three students have been asked to leave the college as the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) is yet to decide whether these students are eligible for Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) or not.
These students were enrolled for 4-years B. Pharmacy course at Shekhawati College of Pharmacy, Dundlod in district Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan under PMSSS on September 25, 2012, but till date scholarship was not disbursed in their names.
After their non-payment of fees and hostel expenses, the college authorities have asked all the 23 students either submit their fee or leave the college.
“We were admitted in the college on 25th September last year but no disbursement on scholarship was made by MHRD, so the college authorities have asked us to leave the college,” Mohammad Umar Farooq of Drugmulla, Kupwara, one of a students enrolled in the college under PMSSS.
Other students enrolled in the college under PMSSS belong to different districts of Kashmir division including Doda, Ramban and Kargil district include Ahsan Ali son of Gh Hassain Choku of Chuniskamboo (Chanigund), Kargil; Aijaz Rasool Dar, son of Ghulam Rasool Dar of village Bon Sharan Tehsil Khag of district Budgam; Faheem U Rasool son of Ghulam Rasool Dar of Chewa, Budgam;  Mohammad Irfan Malik son of Ghulam Mohammad Malik of Narwani, district Shopian; Kaiser Bashir Rather son of Bashir Ahmad Rather of Wadwan, district Budgam; Majed Nisar Bhat son of Nisar Ahmad Bhat of Naidpora Dooru district Anantnag; Mohammad Mubashir Mir son of Mohd Sikander of village Bahadurkote Karnah, district Kupwara;  Mohsin Amin Dar so of Mohammad Amin Dar, Wadwan Budgam; Mudasir Ahmad Muhand son of Nazir Ahmad Mohand of Chakoora district Pulwama; Nisar Ud Din Shah son of Ghulam Nabi Shah of Aglar district Shopian; Raja Rameez Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Najeed Dar of Bon Sharan, Khag district Budgam; Sajad Hussain Bhat son of Ghulam Mohd Bhat of Sehpore Beerwah Budgam; Shabir Ahmad Najar, son of Gul Mohd Najar of Zalangam Anantnag; Shafat Ahmad Khan son of Ab Salam Khan of Zogu Kharim Budgam; Shahid Hussain Malla son of Mohd Shafi Malla of Shadipora Payeen Sumbal Bandipora; Siraj Ud Lone Mohd Shaban Lone of Ajas Bandipora; Suhail Ashraf Lone son of Mohd Ashraf of Arhama, Shopian; Syed Sajad Manzoor son of Syed Manzoor Hussain of Gundi Sayedan Karnah Kupwara; Talib Hussain Ganie son of Gh Mohd Ganie of Lamber Banihal, Ramban district; Tausief Jabar Magrey, son of Ab Jabar Magrey of Kundi Khas, Handwara Kupwara; Tawseef Ah Ganie son of Bashir Ahmad Ganie of Arreh Kulgam; Mohammad Umar Farooq son of Farooq Ahmad Peer of Neerz Drugmulla Kupwara and Shahid Nazir Wani son of Nazir Ahmad Wani of Ranka, district Doda.
The students said at the time of admission the computer operator has mistakenly mentioned the date of admission as 15/10/2012, where as their original admission date was 25/09/2012.
“On account of these 20 days delay we have been declared not eligible for the scholarship,” they said.
The admission letters issued by the college under Ref. No. SCP/2012-13, also show that their actual date of admission was 25/09/2012, but despite college clearance the MHRD did not release the scholarship.
